“An opportunity to give back”

This season we were offered an opportunity of a lifetime. We had the opportunity to go and be a part of a youth event that the Navajo Game and Fish puts on every year for the Navajo Nation. They take about 20 Navajo kids each year and pair them up with a mentor and allow them to be apart of a mule deer hunt at the end of September each year. It’s much more than just going on a deer hunt for these kids. The Arizona Game and Fish and Navajo Game and Fish do such a great job working with these kids months in advance to begin preparing them for such a special weekend. They begin working in advance with the kids on shooting rifles, as well as, teaching them hunter safety classes.
This event is the true definition of a group of people and volunteers that jump at the opportunity to give back. The kids in today’s society are more important than ever to reach them at a young age and teach them the passion of hunting that makes all of us hunters who we are today. The group of volunteers that work this event truly understand this and work so hard to give these kids an opportunity that they may not have without the understanding of how important it is to get kids outdoors. Many hunters, myself included, often times take for granted growing up in a hunting family and having the opportunities that we grow up having in the outdoors. There are so many kids that may would fall in love with hunting, if they ever had the opportunity to go.
